Collaboration

I believe that collaboration is an incredible thing that can positively affect all different groups of people. An article, written by Corey Moseley, defines collaboration: “Collaboration is when a group of people come together and contribute their expertise for the benefit of a shared objective, project, or mission. It’s a photographer working with a designer to create a cover image, or a technology department regularly convening with the marketing team to plug away at quarterly goals. In other words, collaboration is the process of group work. But it’s also a learned skill. How well you collaborate with others will greatly impact the outcome of the group project” (Moseley). Collaborating and working together as a team can help people to create new ideas, expand their thinking, see different perspectives, and so much more.

In previous classes, when we had group projects I would always find them to be beneficial to my creative process and made me think outside the box. The article, written by Moseley, states seven ways that collaboration can be beneficial: it helps us problem solve, it brings people (and organizations) closer together, collaboration helps people learn from each other, it opens up new channels for communication, it boosts morale across your organization, it leads to higher retention rates, and collaboration makes up more efficient workers (Moseley). Collaboration can be a very positive experience and creates inspiration. Collaboration can also bring constructive criticism and can help you to create great design.
